What is biodegradation?
Biodegradation is the breakdown of organic matter by microorganisms, such as bacteria and fungi. It is generally assumed to be a natural process, which differentiates it from composting.
What is biodegradability?
The capacity of a natural environment to chemically break down an object is referred to as biodegradability. Some materials break down into organic parts far faster than others, leading them to be referred to as biodegradable. The process that causes biodegradability is essentially decomposition or rotting. A buried or abandoned object is slowly taken apart by surrounding microorganisms, bacteria, and exposure to the elements.

How does Amni Soul Eco® biodegrade?
In anaerobic landfills, its unique composition allows bacteria to gain access to and digest the waste materials, thus accelerating the biodegradation process.
Amni Soul Eco® is eliminated from the planet in about 5 years, whilst other fibres take decades to decompose.
Like other biodegradable products, once it is in the landfill, Amni Soul Eco®, breaks down into organic matter (biomass) and biogas; both of these can then be exploited as new environmental resources as well as being used to cogenerate electricity.
Ultimately, this enhances landfill productivity waste by a degradation rate and then directly promotes the conservation of green areas.
Is the biodegradability of Amni Soul Eco® certified?
Biodegradability is determined by the standard test method ASTM D5511 (Standard Test Method for Determining Anaerobic Biodegradation of Plastic Materials Under High-Solids Anaerobic -Digestion Conditions (equivalent to ISO 15985).
